Holiday Slowdown.

We'll be slowing things down here a bit for over the holidays, starting December 24th, and then back to normal January 10th. During that time, we'll still be around to answer your email etc. but you may experience slower responses from us than you've gotten used to in the past.

Thanks to everyone for their support over the past year, which has brought a lot of exciting changes. We're looking forward to even more changes in the coming year. We hope everyone has a great holiday and a happy new year!

4.1 Beta 1.

We've just released a public beta of version 4.1. This release includes a significant number of changes to the top-posted comments feature introduced in 4.0. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on that - most people really loved having that feature, but wanted some more control over it in different situations (while still keeping it simple), and I think the new version reflects that well.

This version also provides a new option for Windows users wanting to run CourseForum or ProjectForum as a Windows Service. While previously this was possible using a separately downloaded third party utility, we've now made this easier by bundling support directly into the CF/PF download. Those who've been running as a Windows Service (or just using the command line version) will want to pay close attention to the changes.

There are other changes as well: a Solaris version, theme changes to allow customizing the 'print' pages, the group/course and project lists are now alphabetized, and some other bug fixes. Please see the beta page for full details. Download it, try it out, and let us know what you think!

Hosting Server Status.

We suffered an extended outage on our hosting server this morning. This was caused by an accidental configuration change, which in turn cascaded into a series of wider problems. At no time was any data in jeopardy, but hosted sites were rendered temporarily unavailable. The problem has now been corrected, and all hosted sites should be running normally. We apologize for any inconvenience (or momentary panic) this may have caused. If you are currently experiencing any problems with a hosted site, or have any further questions, please contact support@courseforum.com.
