Help us Test a New Product Option.

We're getting ready to roll out a new licensing option, geared for larger sites where users often participate in a number of different forums.

Under this new model, rather than licenses being on a per-group basis, and users having essentially separate accounts and logins for each course or group, licenses would be purchased on the basis of total number of registered users, and each user would have a single account for the site, not one per group.

On the plus side, this means a single signin gets users in anywhere they have access, and controlling who has access is a bit more flexible. As well, there would no longer be a limit on the number of courses or group that would be created. On the down side, all users would need to be registered with the system, so no more wide open or shared-password forums would be available.

This would be an alternative, not a replacement, for the existing per-group or per-course licensing.

We're looking for people to help test this out; if you'd like to help out, or just have a look and provide us with some feedback, send us some email. Thanks!

Version 3.4 Released.

We've posted version 3.4 of both CourseForum and ProjectForum. Changes include:
  • allow replacing the pre-defined set of pages used to start all new forums (ProjectForum only)... see FAQ for how to do this
  • allow easily including pages from different groups into the current page
  • added new markup (===html===) to easily include block of HTML code into a page
  • additional bug fixes and enhancements:
    • RSS feeds will return a 304 code when not changed to save bandwidth
    • handle http redirects in include: and rss: targets
    • updates to starting pages for forums reflecting changes in recent versions of the software
    • fixed problem deleting the first version of a page
    • clean up some harmless errors that were being logged
    • performance improvements for some operations
